Participants

  • Antoinette grew up in Chicago, IL and graduated from Goshen College with a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work with a minor in theatre. She will be working with Church World Service this year with their ESL program. She is passionate about serving with others. When serving with others she feels that she learns a lot more about how to make a community a much safer and more welcoming environment. Through serving with others she is able to hear individual people's stories, so that she is best able to connect with others and foster a sense of belonging.

  • Maria is from Silver Spring, Maryland and recently graduated from Eastern Mennonite University with degrees in Spanish Language & Hispanic Studies and Peacebuilding. She is interning with Church World Service to work with immigrants and refugees. In her free time she enjoys running, hiking, camping, backpacking, and animals.

  • Mary hails from upstate New York and has an Associates degree in Accounting. This year, Mary is excited to join The Shalom Project as Lancaster Public Library Bookmobile's intern, where she will focus on promoting the spread of knowledge and joy of books that aligns well with her own love of reading. Mary is eager to connect with people and contribute meaningful change during her stay in Lancaster. Outside of work, she enjoys reading, photography, and exploring the great outdoors.

  • Saige is from Seattle, Washington and graduated from Goshen College with a degree in Graphic Design and minors in Art and Music. She is interning with Mennonite Central Committee and with the Demuth Foundation. Saige is excited to use her graphic design skills to serve others and to share her interest in art history with patrons. In her spare time Saige enjoys reading and baking.

  • Sydney is from southeast Pennsylvania. She has one younger sister, Alexa, who will go to college this fall. Sydney is excited to work alongside Meals on Wheels over the coming year. She hopes this year brings lots of laughs, fond memories, and the space to take a step back and think deeply about her future, faith, and next steps. She loves kids, organizing, reading, writing, watching movies, playing board games, volleyball, and trying new things.
